"Be Sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit."
Matter:
Chrism (perfumed oil) is the matter of Confirmation. Laying on of hands by the bishop/priest
Minister:
Ordinary minister- A Bishop (successor of the apostles)
Extraordinary minister- A priest with permission from the bishop.
On the Easter Vigil, the pastor of a parish can confirm those entering the church that night
Rite:
The candidate for confirmation enters the church with their confirmation sponsor. There they are greeted by the Bishop. The Bishop reads a series of readings to help the candidates achieve a deeper understanding of the importance of Confirmation. The candidates are asked to affirm their faith by answering "I do." to a series of questions asked by the bishop. The candidates are then individually called to the alter. The Sponsor puts their hand on the candidates right shoulder and tells the bishop their Confirmation name. the bishop then says, "(Name) Be sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit." He makes a sign of the cross on their forehead with Chrism, and then the newly confirmed and Sponsor return to their seats. After all candidates have been blessed, the bishop says a closing prayer, and the newly confirmed and their sponsors process out of the church.

Elizabeth
I chose my confirmation name after St. Elizabeth, mother of John the Baptist. The name Elizabeth in Hebrew means, "Worshiper of God." I chose to follow St. Elizabeth because she lived a life of great faith and love. Her whole life, she waited patiently for a child and he did not come for a very long time. However, she never lost faith and kept praying to God. St. Elizabeth is a great model of faith, love, and sacrifice, so I thought she was the perfect candidate to name myself after.

I chose my Aunt Joanie to be my Confirmation sponsor. She has always been a great role model to me. Having only 3 sons, she has always treated me like the daughter she never had. I wish to one day emulate her strength, love, and wisdom. She works very hard as a nurse taking care of sick babies, but she always makes time to spend in prayer with God, as well as taking care of her family. I chose my Aunt Joanie to be my confirmation sponsor because I hope to be just like her one day, kind, loving, strong, forgiving, successful, and most importantly, faithful.
